Our 23 acre farm is situated in the North Georgia Mountains.

Our focus is on horse training

When I first began working with horses I struggled to find a place that could not only work with me on riding but also on handling a horse. Through my education I noticed that I was not the only one with this problem. I realized that most owners want a great relationship with their horse. There was just no where to go to get both the riding and learn how to develop a good partnership.

Some great professionals who can help

I did find  that there are some great professionals who can help.  All I needed was a place for them give clinics.  Genie’s is here to provide that service.

How did we get here?

I have for several years been interested in horses and wanted to learn to ride. As a child I had very limited opportunity to do so. I started looking for riding instructions but most places were unreliable or used to dealing only with young children. I had to find another way to pursue this passion. After several frustrating months I was discussing this with a person in my office.  She had a horse and graciously invited me out for a ride.   Little did she or I know at the time that this would be the start of an amazing adventure.   What started out as a weekend ride became an every day obsession with me. Our friendship grew and we became  partners in owning a horse, Dixie.

Riding and working with Dixie

Genie and I had the pleasure of riding and working with Dixie for the next two years.  We also had the shared  grief when we lost her  suddenly on 12/5/2023. Dixie was a great horse and a gentle soul.   She gave me the confidence to pursue further education and a passion for working with horses.
Genie is an inspiring woman herself.    She was 84 years old when we began riding together, but for her entire life she has been passionate about horses.   She rode her first mule at age 2 and her first pony at age 4.  She began barrel racing in high school.  Her first  barrel horse was a buckskin named Alladin.  They showed as Genie and Alladin.   Genie went to summer camp out west as a camp host during her school years and has plenty of stories to tell about that adventure.   Her commitment to the ones she loves and her courage and passion for life are rare in this world and it is my great privilege to call her my friend.

I might also point out that her favorite color is red.  I felt it only fitting that her story be told in that color.
When I decided to build the farm and training facility it seemed only fitting the these two be present in this venture.   Hence the name Genie’s Dixie Dream Stable (Genie’s  for short.)
